No. 2 Wisconsin edges Georgetown in Bahamas

Nov 28, 2014 - 1:03 AM Nassau, Bahamas (SportsNetwork.com) - Sam Dekker had 17 points, Nigel Hayes scored 15 and second-ranked Wisconsin held on to beat Georgetown 68-65 on Thursday in the Battle 4 Atlantis semifinals.

Bronson Koenig supplied 14 points and four assists for the Badgers (6-0), who will face Oklahoma in Friday's championship game.

D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera sank five 3-pointers but missed one at the buzzer that could have forced overtime. He led the Hoyas (4-1) with 29 points on 11-of-18 shooting.

Joshua Smith was the only other Georgetown player to reach double figures in points as he finished with 10.

The Badgers hadn't trailed by more than two points in their first five games, but found themselves down 53-44 with 11:36 remaining. They responded with a 22-6 run and went up 66-59 on two Dekker free throws with 1:53 left.

After Smith-Rivera knocked down a trey, Paul White was fouled on a 3-point try. He made all three free throws to trim Georgetown's deficit to 66-65 with 50.4 seconds to play. Hayes scored on a tip-in with 20 seconds left.

Down six early, Wisconsin went into halftime leading 35-34 on a Koenig layup following a Georgetown turnover.

Game Notes

Georgetown will play Butler in an all-Big East matchup for third place ... Frank Kaminsky, Wisconsin's leading scorer, was 1-of-8 shooting and finished with six points. He averaged 18.6 points through the first five games ... The Badgers have now won 22 consecutive regular-season non-conference games ... Wisconsin leads the all-time series 2-1. Thursday marked the first meeting since 1982.
