Oregon State edges No. 7 Arizona

Jan 12, 2015 - 6:54 AM Corvallis, OR (SportsNetwork.com) - Langston Morris-Walker drove in for a layup with 26 seconds remaining to lift Oregon State to a 58-56 upset win over No. 7 Arizona on Sunday night.

The Wildcats looked to force overtime, but T.J. McConnell missed a runner.

Morris-Walker finished with 12 points and eight rebounds for the Beavers (11-4, 2-1 Pac-12), who posted their first win over a top-10 team since beating these same Wildcats -- then ranked third -- in overtime on March 2, 2000.

"Great win by our guys. I thought they showed unbelievable toughness and resiliency from start to finish," said Oregon State coach Wayne Tinkle.

Gary Payton II scored 10 points with nine rebounds, helping Oregon State end a seven-game slide to Arizona and improve to 10-0 at home this season.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson had 14 points and McConnell added 13 with six assists for Arizona (14-2, 2-1), which was held to 37.8 percent shooting.

Neither team led by more than four in a game that featured 20 lead changes.

A three-point play by Malcolm Duvivier put Oregon State up 56-52 with 1:33 left. Gabe York then hit a 3-pointer for Arizona, which tied it when Hollis- Jefferson went 1-of-2 from the foul line with 49 seconds to play.

Arizona was up 21-20 at halftime despite shooting just 26.1 percent.

Game Notes

Olaf Schaftenaar scored nine points for Oregon State, which shot 64.7 percent in the second half ... The Beavers matched the best home start since 1998-99 season.
