Pangos buried a 3-pointer with 10:43 remaining in the second that started an 11-1 run. Wiltjer capped it with a 3 of his own for a 66-56 lead before Devin Watson answered at the other end with a trey to quell the surge.

Wiltjer converted two free throws with 2:03 remaining that extended Gonzaga's lead to 73-65. Tollefsen kept the Dons close with a trey at the other end, but Matt Glover was whistled for a technical foul after getting tangled up with Pangos after the play. Pangos hit both technical free throws and Gonzaga held on.

Gonzaga grabbed a 17-11 lead when Pangos knocked down a 3-pointer just after the second media timeout of the first half. San Francisco then went on an 8-2 run to tie the game and kept it close for the remainder of the half.

The Dons ran a perfect out-of-bounds play in the closing seconds to tie the score at 38 at the break. With under two seconds on the clock, Matt Glover lobbed a pass up to Tollefsen in the paint, and the latter rattled home a one-handed floater as the buzzer sounded.
