Notre Dame takes out Boston College once more

Feb 22, 2015 - 12:03 AM Chestnut Hill, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Bonzie Colson led six players in double figures with 16 points as No. 10 Notre Dame kept rolling with an 87-70 decision over Boston College at Conte Forum.

Demetrius Jackson finished with 15 points while Zach Auguste had 14 and V.J. Beachem, Jerian Grant and Steve Vasturia totaled 10 each for the Irish (24-4, 12-3 ACC), winners of three straight and nine of their last 11, including a 71-63 result in South Bend against BC on Feb. 4.

Aaron Brown clocked in with a game-high 22 points for the Eagles (9-17, 1-13), who have dropped eight in a row. Olivier Hanlan picked up 19 points and Dennis Clifford had 17 in a losing effort.

Dmitri Batten's triple pulled the Eagles to 45-41 with 15:26 to play, but that's as close as the hosts would come.

Jackson countered with a trey of his own to kick off a 17-7 spurt which effectively decided the outcome. Vasturia scored four during the run and Beachem made the final two buckets which gave the Irish a 62-48 edge just before the midway point.

Notre Dame's largest lead of the contest came late, on a Jackson layup with just over four minutes left which gave the visitors a 79-58 margin.

The Irish never trailed in the contest, snapping an early tie with a 12-3 run to go up 16-7 after Beachem connected from long distance just before the eight-minute mark.

A Hanlan trey and Brown layup enabled BC to climb within 26-25, but Colson's jumper gave Notre Dame some breathing room at 37-28 and it led by five at the break.
