Virginia's Anderson has appendectomy

Mar 6, 2015 - 1:09 AM Charlottesville, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Justin Anderson's return to the court for No. 2 Virginia will be delayed for at least one more game after the standout guard underwent an emergency appendectomy on Thursday.

Anderson has been sidelined for the past month by a fractured finger on his left hand, but was considered a possibility to play in the Cavaliers' regular- season finale at Louisville prior to having the procedure.

The junior sharpshooter's status for next week's ACC Tournament has yet to be determined, according to a release by the Virginia athletic department.

Anderson suffered his initial injury during the Cavaliers' 52-47 victory over Louisville on Feb. 7. Virginia has gone 7-0 in his absence and secured the ACC's top seed with Monday's 59-47 triumph at Syracuse.

In 22 games this season, Anderson has averaged 13.4 points and shot 48.4 percent from 3-point range.
