Iowa State
Last season: 25-9, lost in second round of NCAA Tournament
Nickname: Cyclones.
Coach: Steve Prohm.
Conference: Big 12.
Key returners: Senior Georges Niang (15.3 points per game last season) is one of the top preseason contenders for national player of the year honors. Fellow senior Jameel McKay was the Big 12's defensive player of the year in 2014-15, and junior point guard Monte Morris is a talented floor manager.
Who left: Bryce Dejean-Jones (10.5 ppg.) and forward Dustin Hogue, who provided the up-tempo Cyclones with inside muscle.
The Skinny: Prohm inherits one of the most talented rosters in the country. If the Cyclones stay healthy, they'll be on the short list of national title contenders.
