No. 12 Baylor upends No. 8 Oklahoma State in OT

Jan 27, 2014 - 12:45 AM Stillwater, OK (SportsNetwork.com) - Makenzie Robertson scored 18 points to lead No. 12 Baylor to a 69-66 overtime win against No. 8 Oklahoma State on Sunday.

Odyssey Sims totaled 17 points with eight rebounds and eight assists, while Nina Davis finished with 16 points and 17 rebounds for the Lady Bears (16-3, 6-1 Big 12), who have won two straight on the heels of a two-game losing skid.

Tiffany Bias paced the Cowgirls (17-2,6-2) with 17 points, while Roshunda Johnson and Kendra Suttles scored 15 and 12 points, respectively, off the bench in the setback.

Suttles made a layup with 42 seconds left to give Oklahoma State a 61-58 lead. Baylor then had two opportunities to tie as Robertson missed a 3-pointer and Sims gathered the miss and also was off the mark on her attempt from distance.

Johnson pulled down the defensive rebound, but Niya Johnson stole the ball to give the Bears another chance. Coming out of a timeout, Robertson drilled a 3 to tie the game and send it to overtime.

The extra session began with some sloppy play as Oklahoma State turned it over on its first two possessions and Baylor gave it up on its first touch. Kristina Higgins opened the scoring with a layup before Robertson knocked down a 3 to give the Bears a 66-61 lead with just under three minutes left in overtime.

Johnson then hit a 3 and Brittney Martin followed with a layup to tie the game 66-66 with 1:24 left.

Sims went the length of the court off a defensive rebound and was fouled after converting a layup with a 3.8 ticks to go. She made the free throw, then stole the Cowgirls inbounds pass and ran out the clock.

Baylor outscored Oklahoma State 8-2 in the final minutes of the first half and led 33-24 at the break.

The Bears pushed their halftime lead to 16 and Johnson hit two 3s during a 22-5 run that gave the Cowgirls a 51-50 lead with 7:00 to play in regulation.
