Sims leads No. 9 Baylor past Texas

Feb 2, 2014 - 3:37 AM Waco, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Odyssey Sims dropped in 44 points to lead No. 9 Baylor to an 87-73 win over Texas in a Big 12 clash Saturday at the Ferrell Center.

Sims finished just 12-of-34 from the field, but knocked down 18-of-20 free throw attempts and added seven rebounds and seven assists to propel the Lady Bears (18-3, 8-1 Big 12) to a 32nd straight conference win on their home floor. Baylor's last Big 12 loss in Waco came to Texas in March of 2010.

Nina Davis compiled 15 points and 17 rebounds in the victory, with Khadijiah Cave contributing 11 points off the bench.

Texas (14-7, 5-4) was paced by Nneka Enemkpali's 19 points and 15 rebounds, while Nekia Jones had 11 points and Celina Rodrigo scored 10 along with seven assists.

The Longhorns owned a 20-11 lead midway through the first half after putting together a 14-0 run and took a 36-35 edge into the break following a Jones 3- pointer at the buzzer. Baylor netted the first eight points of the second half, however, and never trailed thereafter.

Texas continued to stay within striking distance, though, closing to within 69-64 after Enemkpali hit two free throws with 5:46 left. Sims then accounted for all of the Lady Bears' points during a 7-2 spurt that kept the Longhorns at bay.
