Tennessee takes down Vandy in ranked SEC clash
Feb 11, 2014 - 4:27 AM Knoxville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Meighan Simmons tallied 22 points thanks to 4-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc, as No. 8 Tennessee breezed past No. 16 Vanderbilt, 81-53, on Monday, to collect its 29th straight home win.Isabelle Harrison added 18, and Andraya Carter contributed 11 points for the Lady Vols (20-4, 9-2 SEC), who won their sixth straight overall.
Christina Foggie also totaled 22 points for the Commodores (17-6, 6-4), losers in three of their last four. Marqu'es Webb connected for 12 in a losing cause.
The hosts led wire-to-wire. They opened up a 30-18 edge on a shot from Cierra Burdick with roughly six minutes left in the first half, but were only ahead 42-31 lead to the break thanks to Foggie's five three-pointers.
Tennessee opened the second half with seven straight points, then broke the game open with an 18-2 run which ended near the midway point.
