No. 7 Baylor cruises past Texas

Feb 16, 2014 - 8:59 PM Austin, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Odyssey Sims poured in 34 points to lead seventh-ranked Baylor to a 72-56 win over Texas on Sunday.

Sims was the only player in double figures for the Lady Bears (22-3, 12-1 Big 12), who have won eight straight games.

Niya Johnson scored nine points, while Sune Agbuke and Nina Davis each scored six points with eight rebounds in victory.

Nneka Enemkpali led the Longhorns (17-8, 8-5) with 10 points. Texas had its three-game winning streak snapped in defeat.

Sims scored the first five points of the game before Texas answered with five straight of its own to tie the game in the early going.

Enemkpali made a layup minutes later for a 9-7 Texas advantage, but that would be the final time the Longhorns were in front.

Baylor answered with an 11-2 run and Texas got as close as three after an Imani McGee-Stafford free throw with under three minutes to play in the opening half. Baylor scored the final six points of the half to take a 30-21 lead into the break.

Baylor's margin was eight with 12:45 remaining in the second half when the Lady Bears used a 22-3 run to grab a 58-31 lead.
