Baylor opens with blowout over Northwestern St.

Mar 20, 2015 - 9:46 PM Waco, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Nina Davis had 17 points and Alexis Prince scored 14, leading Baylor to an easy 77-36 win over Northwestern State in the women's NCAA Tournament.

Khadijiah Cave added 12 points and Kristy Wallace had a game-high 11 rebounds for the second-seeded Lady Bears (31-3), who will host 10th-seeded Arkansas in the second round of the Oklahoma City Region on Sunday.

Baylor is ranked No. 5 in the Associated Press poll and is appearing in the tourney for a 12th consecutive year fresh off its fifth straight Big 12 title.

After the school's third-seeded men's team was upset by Georgia State in the final seconds on Thursday, the Lady Bears faced no such trouble.

An early 12-2 run separated them from the 15th-seeded Lady Demons and they led by 21, 41-20, at halftime.

Janelle Perez had 10 points to lead Northwestern State (19-15), which made its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance and second in a row. The Lady Demons won the Southland Conference title.
