Taylor with 19 points, No. 11 Texas women beat Rice 70-47
Nov 21, 2015 - 10:54 PM HOUSTON (AP) Brianna Taylor scored 19 points and No. 11 Texas rolled to a 70-47 victory over Rice on Saturday.Texas (3-0) outscored the Owls 14-2 in the third quarter.
Taylor was 8 of 11 from the field and grabbed eight rebounds. Brooke McCarty scored 11 points, and Lashann Higgs added 10 for the Longhorns. Imani Boyette chipped in 4 points with three steals and three blocks.
Shani Rainey scored 20 points on 5-of-8 shooting to lead the Owls (0-3), who are winless under first-year head coach Tina Langley.
Taylor had 9 points in the first half and the Longhorns had a 32-28 halftime lead. Taylor scored 6 of the Longhorns 14 points in the third quarter while the Owls shot 1 for 9 from the floor, and missed four free throws.
Texas is 34-1 in the series, including 16-1 at Houston.
