Syracuse women beat No. 12 Duke 86-50 to open ACC play

Jan 3, 2016 - 8:16 PM SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) Maggie Morrison made seven 3-pointers and scored a career-high 25 points, and Syracuse beat No. 12 Duke 86-50 on Sunday to snap the Blue Devils' 18-game winning streak in ACC openers.

Syracuse coach Quentin Hillsman won his 200th game in his 10th season at the helm.

Morrison had 12 points in the first half to help Syracuse build a 48-32 halftime lead - the most first-half points allowed by Duke since Feb. 4, 2008.

The Orange made 50 percent of their shots overall, including 14 of 36 from 3-point range, and forced 32 turnovers.

Alexis Peterson had 17 points and 13 assists for Syracuse (11-3), which had a 19-5 lead before Duke hit its second field goal of the game. Morrison had five of Syracuse's 17 steals.

Azura Stevens recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds for Duke (11-4).
