Lady Vols sign junior-college forward Cheridene Green
May 18, 2016 - 10:35 PM KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Tennessee has signed junior-college transfer Cheridene Green, though a knee injury will prevent the 6-foot-3 forward from playing for the Lady Volunteers in the upcoming season.Green averaged 20.5 points, 16.5 rebounds, 3.9 blocks and 2.5 steals in 15 games for ASA College in Brooklyn, New York, this past season before getting hurt. Tennessee announced her signing Wednesday and said Green plans to redshirt in 2016-17 and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining after that.
Green is from London. In the release announcing her addition, Tennessee said Green will become the Lady Vols' first international player.
Tennessee coach Holly Warlick said in a statement, ''I think sitting out in 2016-17 is going to allow her the ability to get 100 percent healthy'' while learning the Lady Vols' system.
