Collaros sidelined after ankle surgery
Nov 14, 2011 - 6:25 PM Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - Cincinnati quarterback Zach Collaros underwent surgery Monday for a broken right ankle that will sideline him for the rest of the regular season.Collaros was hurt during the second quarter of this past Saturday's game against West Virginia. He could return for a bowl game.
"Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers! Surgery went well," Collaros tweeted on Monday. "Cannot wait to start the rehab process!"
Collaros has started all nine games for the surprising Bearcats this season, who suffered their first Big East loss against the Mountaineers. He has completed 63.4 percent of his passes for 1,860 yards with 14 touchdowns and eight interceptions for the 7-2 Bearcats.
Munchie Legaux took over on Saturday against West Virginia and is expected to be the starter when Cincinnati visits Rutgers on Saturday. The Bearcats are 3-1 in the Big East and have a half-game lead over Rutgers, West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Louisville.
