Standout DE Jackson joins Portland State program
Jul 24, 2012 - 5:49 PM Portland, OR (Sports Network) - Former All-SWAC defensive end Marquis Jackson will play his final collegiate season at Portland State.Jackson was granted his release from Texas Southern University's program in the spring. He was an All-SWAC first-team selection each of the past two seasons.
Last season, the 6-foot-5, 275-pound standout from Northridge, Calif., had 50 tackles and six sacks while also ranking sixth in the SWAC with 18.5 tackles for loss.
Portland State, a member of the Big Sky Conference, finished 7-4 last season under second-year coach Nigel Burton. The Vikings will open the 2012 campaign on Sept. 1 against Carroll College.
