TCU's Pachall injures arm

Sep 7, 2013 - 9:06 PM Fort Worth, TX (Sports Network) - TCU quarterback Casey Pachall left Saturday's game against Southeastern Louisiana with an arm injury that coach Gary Patterson indicated was somewhat serious.

Pachall injured his left forearm late in the second quarter when Southeastern Louisiana's Justin Church fell on him. He left the field holding his arm and did not return.

Patterson said in a televised interview on the field after the game that Pachall's injury appeared to be long-term, saying the Horned Frogs may have "lost him" for an extended period of time. However, he later said only that Pachall would be sidelined for Thursday's Big 12 opener against Texas Tech.

"He won't play next week, I can promise you that," Patterson said in the press conference after the game.

Pachall threw for 100 yards on 8-of-14 passing and directed a pair of scoring drives before departing. He was replaced by Trevone Boykin, who guided the Horned Frogs to a 38-17 victory.

Boykin was the starter for most of last season after Pachall left the program to deal with a substance-abuse problem. He was arrested last October for suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

The Horned Frogs are 1-1 heading into next week's conference opener, having lost to LSU last week.
