Northern Iowa may be without Kollmorgen, Johnson

Nov 6, 2013 - 8:42 PM Cedar Falls, IA (Sports Network) - Northern Iowa may have to try to end a five- game losing streak on Saturday against No. 9 Youngstown State without two injured junior starters, quarterback Sawyer Kollmorgen and running back David Johnson.

Kollmorgen suffered his second concussion of the season and Johnson a left ankle injury during a 13-3 loss at Illinois State last Saturday. Previously, Johnson had dealt with a hip-pointer.

If Kollmorgen and Johnson don't play against Youngstown State, Brion Carnes, a junior transfer from Nebraska, would likely start at quarterback, and redshirt sophomore Evan Williams at running back.

Northern Iowa began the season with four straight wins and was ranked fourth nationally, but has dropped five straight Missouri Valley Conference games - the Panthers' longest losing streak since 1978.
