Toledo DC Matukewicz reportedly new Southeast Missouri coach

Dec 17, 2013 - 11:13 PM Cape Girardeau, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - Southeast Missouri State has called a news conference for Wednesday regarding the future of its football program, and University of Toledo defensive coordinator Tom Matukewicz reportedly will be named the Redhawks' news head football coach.

Several news reports say Matukewicz is the choice to succeed Tony Samuel, who was fired last month after his third straight three-win season and seven overall seasons.

Matukewicz has been at Toledo the last two seasons and also is the linebackers coach. He served the 2008-11 seasons at Northern Illinois.

He was the linebackers coach at Southern Illinois from 2001-07 and was named the 2007 FCS Assistant Coach of the Year by the American Football Coaches Association.

Matukewicz also has been an assistant coach at Emporia State, Pittsburg State, Fort Hayes State and Coffeyville Community College.
