Dameron names Eastern Illinois coordinators

Jan 17, 2014 - 9:58 PM Charleston, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - New Eastern Illinois football coach Kim Dameron announced the hiring of Greg Stevens as the Panthers' offensive coordinator and Kane Wommack as their defensive coordinator on Friday.

Stevens arrives at Eastern Illinois from Southeastern Louisiana, where he served as offensive coordinator the past two years. This past season, Southeastern won the Southland Conference title and reached the FCS playoff quarterfinals. Stevens' offensive unit ranked 10th in the FCS in total offense and 12th in scoring offense.

Wommack previously coached in the Ohio Valley Conference at Jacksonville State and UT Martin. This past season, he worked on the staff at Mississippi assisting with coaching the safeties for a Rebels defense that ranked 36th in the FCS in pass defense and 38th in total defense.

Dameron, a head coach for the first time, has taken over an Eastern Illinois team that went 12-2 and was ranked as high as No. 2 in the nation this past season, reaching the national quarterfinals.
