Mountaineers, Wolfpack to play in 2018-19
Jul 24, 2014 - 12:57 AM Morgantown, WV (SportsNetwork.com) - West Virginia and North Carolina State made a joint announcement Wednesday of a home-and-home series between the two programs scheduled during the 2018 and 2019 seasons."I am excited about this series, because it gives our football program and our fans an outstanding home-and-home series with a team from the ACC," West Virginia director of athletics Oliver Luck said. "WVU has a lot of alumni living in North Carolina, especially in the triangle region, so it gives our fans a game that is close. We have had competitive games over the years with NC State, and this is a chance to restart the series."
The series will kick off with a game at Carter-Finley Stadium, then switch to Mountaineer Field the next year.
The schools have met 10 times previously, with each winning five times. NC State -- under the guidance of current Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson -- came away with a 23-7 victory in the last meeting, in the Champs Sports Bowl on Dec. 28, 2010.
