Mountaineers, Wolfpack to play in 2018-19

Jul 24, 2014 - 12:57 AM Morgantown, WV (SportsNetwork.com) - West Virginia and North Carolina State made a joint announcement Wednesday of a home-and-home series between the two programs scheduled during the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

"I am excited about this series, because it gives our football program and our fans an outstanding home-and-home series with a team from the ACC," West Virginia director of athletics Oliver Luck said. "WVU has a lot of alumni living in North Carolina, especially in the triangle region, so it gives our fans a game that is close. We have had competitive games over the years with NC State, and this is a chance to restart the series."

The series will kick off with a game at Carter-Finley Stadium, then switch to Mountaineer Field the next year.

The schools have met 10 times previously, with each winning five times. NC State -- under the guidance of current Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson -- came away with a 23-7 victory in the last meeting, in the Champs Sports Bowl on Dec. 28, 2010.
