Liberty football dismisses two starters

May 13, 2015 - 3:49 PM Lynchburg, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Liberty University has dismissed two starters from the football program due to a violation of team rules.

Coach Turner Gill announced Wednesday the removal of fullback Nicky Fualaau and safety Gary Sampson.

Fualaau, from Federal Way, Washington, played in 32 games over three seasons, making 18 starts. During Liberty's 9-5 season last year, he totaled 11 carries for 31 yards and four receptions for 31 yards. His late-game touchdown at James Madison helped the Flames to their program's first-ever NCAA playoff victory.

Sampson, from Miami, played in 26 games over two seasons, with all of his 13 starts last year. He posted 51 tackles with two interceptions last season.
