Texas-San Antonio manhandles UTEP in 25-6 win
Oct 4, 2015 - 7:01 AM EL PASO, Texas (AP) Jarveon Williams had 28 carries for 133 yards and a touchdown as Texas-San Antonio beat Texas El Paso 25-6 in game delayed twice by lightning Saturday night.The Roadrunners (1-4, 1-0 Conference USA) avoided their first five-game losing streak in program history. Williams' 28 carries was a school record.
UTSA's Daniel Portillo had the only points of the first half with a 30-yard field goal. The Roadrunners extended it to 5-0 after tackling Miners' running back Kavika Johnson in the end zone for a safety.
Williams scored on a 25-yard run to make 12-0, then Michael Egwuagu had a pick-6 taking Ryan Metz's pass 40 yards making it 18-0. The point after failed.
UTEP (2-3, 0-1) scored when Metz found Jaquan White from 25 yards to make it 18-6 as the two-point conversion failed. Nate Gaines capped the scoring intercepting Metz and returning it 11 yards. Metz threw for 198 yards and four interceptions.
