-Dak Prescott, Mississippi State, threw for a career-high 501 yards and five TDs in the Bulldogs' 51-50 win over Arkansas.

-Vernon Adams Jr., Oregon, threw for 407 yards and matched a school record with six TDs to help the No. 23 Ducks beat No. 22 USC 48-28.

-Austin Herink, East Tennessee State, accounted for 354 yards and five TDs in a 42-27 win over Kentucky Wesleyan.

-Marshaun Coprich, Illinois State, rushed for 251 yards and four TDs in a 46-0 win over South Dakota.

-Cyrus Jones, Alabama, became the first player in school history to return two punts for TDs as the No. 3 Crimson Tide romped past Charleston Southern 56-6.

-Devin Lucien, Arizona State, had nine catches for 190 yards and a score in the Sun Devils' 52-37 victory over rival Arizona.

-Nick Shafnisky, Lehigh, accounted for 392 yards and five TDs in a 49-35 win over Lafayette.

-Nate Sudfeld, Indiana, threw for 385 yards and four TDs to rally the Hoosiers to 47-28 victory over Maryland.

-Shannon Brooks, Minnesota, rushed for 174 yards and three TDs, including a 75-yard romp into the end zone with 1:25 remaining, to seal a 32-23 victory over Illinois.

-Ammon Olson, Southern Utah, tied a career high with five TD passes and threw for 430 yards in a 49-41 victory over Northern Arizona.

-Scott Hosch, Harvard, threw for 320 yards and four TDs to lead the Crimson to a share of the Ivy League crown with a 38-19 victory over Yale.

-Brady Gustafson, Montana, threw for 353 yards and four TDs in a 54-35 win over Montana State.

-Jake Browning, Washington, threw four TD passes in a 52-7 win over Oregon State.

SPARTANS TOP BUCKEYES

Playing without its star quarterback, Michigan State put the defending national champions on the outside looking in at the College Football Playoff race.

Michael Geiger kicked a 41-yard field goal as time expired and No. 9 Michigan State, playing without injured Connor Cook, beat No. 2 Ohio State 17-14 to snap the Buckeyes' 23-game winning streak.

On a rainy and windy day at Ohio Stadium, the Spartans took control of the Big Ten East, put themselves into the thick of the playoff hunt and very likely ended the Buckeyes' chances to repeat as national champs.

Ohio State managed just 132 yards against a rugged Spartans defense and lost for the first time to a Big Ten team in the regular season since Urban Meyer became coach four seasons ago. The Rose Bowl might be the best that the Buckeyes can do now

HAWKEYES RISING

Iowa barely acknowledged winning the Big Ten West. The Hawkeyes have much bigger goals.

C.J. Beathard threw three touchdown passes and No. 6 Iowa clinched a share of the West title and a spot in the Big Ten championship game with a 40-20 win over Purdue.

LeShun Daniels Jr. ran for two TDs for the Hawkeyes, who'll play at Nebraska next week in search of their first 12-0 regular season - just a year after finishing 7-6.
