Hosch, Drake win Ivy's Bushnell Cup

Dec 8, 2015 - 1:41 AM (STATS) - Harvard quarterback Scott Hosch and Penn linebacker Tyler Drake captured the Asa S. Bushnell Cup as the Ivy League's offensive and defensive players of the year Monday.

Both seniors were selected in a vote of the league's eight head coaches. Hosch won the offensive award over fellow finalist Justin Watson, a Penn sophomore wide receiver, while Drake was selected over Dartmouth senior linebacker Will McNamara.

The three teams with finalists finished in a tie for the Ivy League title.

Harvard has had a Bushnell Cup winner every year since 2010 and nine overall. Hosch set the Crimson's single-season passing record with 2,827 yards, and his 22 touchdown passes were their second-most for a season.

Drake was Penn's first Bushnell winner since 2009 and its ninth overall as well. He led the league in sacks (8.5) and tackles for loss (12.5) and tied for the most forced fumbled with four. He had 80 tackles, the most by a Quaker since 2011.

Hosch and Drake were finalists for the respective STATS offensive and defensive player of the year awards.
