Ivy coaches want to eliminate tackling in practices

Mar 1, 2016 - 10:34 PM (STATS) - Ivy League coaches are hoping to eliminate full-contact hitting from practices during the regular season - a potential further step in a sport seeking to combat brain trauma and other injuries.

The New York Times reported Tuesday the coaches unanimously approved the measure last week. However, the league's athletic directors, policy committee and university presidents must still approve the measure this spring.

In 2011, the league began limiting the amount of full contact in practices during the spring and preseason.
