East Carolina unveils $55 million stadium project for 2017

Apr 16, 2016 - 11:12 PM GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) East Carolina has unveiled details of a $55 million renovation for Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium that includes a new southside tower, featuring 1,000 new premium seats, a club level, suites and a new press facilities.

The project also includes improvements to the Ward Sports Medicine Building and Scales Field House to increase space for student-athletes, as well as a new nearby hitting facility to serve the baseball and softball programs.

Construction is scheduled to begin after the 2017 home finale and be completed ahead of the 2018 home opener.

The last addition to the southside of Dowdy-Ficklen was the construction of the existing press box in 1978, while the most recent stadium project was a 7,000-seat expansion that bowled in the east end zone in 2010.
