0 shoutsNEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- Matt Schaub was 14-of-16 for 187 yards and two scores as the Houston Texans defeated the New Orleans Saints, 31-27, in a preseason game on Saturday.
Texans running back Steve Slaton scampered into the end zone for a 10-yard run to erase a 27-24 deficit at the 12:07 mark of the fourth quarter.
Drew Brees connected on touchdown passes to Marques Colston and Reggie Bush and finished 12-of-17 for 147 yards for the Saints (1-1).
Bush, who has been nursing a sore knee, caught a 12-yard touchdown pass in the second from Brees and also carried the ball seven times for 24 yards.
The third-year running back missed one practice after he first experienced some swelling in his left knee and said he had an MRI earlier this week, but it revealed no damage, according to a report in the Times-Picayune.
This is the same knee that sidelined Bush at the end of last season, when he tore his posterior cruciate ligament. But he has been healthy and full speed throughout the offseason, and he thinks the swelling is just a result of the heavy camp workload.
Schaub had a much busier game than last week, when he completed four-of-five passes for 29 yards against the Denver Broncos. He connected with Vonto Leach for a 1-yard scoring strike to give the Texans (2-0) a 14-6 edge at the 12:39 mark in the second.
He was relieved after nearly two quarters by Sage Rosenfels, who tossed for 94 yards on 6-of-8 passing.
