Report: Pouncey brothers probed in possible assault

Jul 12, 2014 - 5:46 PM Hollywood, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - NFL twin brothers Mike and Maurkice Pouncey are reportedly being investigated in an alleged assault of a man in a Miami Beach nightclub that took place early Saturday morning.

Ricky Vasquez wrote on his Twitter account that he was attacked by four bouncers as well as the two offensive linemen at the Cameo nightclub during a birthday party for the Pounceys. The story was first reported by the Broward- Palm Beach New Times.

Miami Beach police sergeant Bobby Hernandez confirmed to the New Times that an incident occurred at 4:20 a.m. ET at the club and the department is still in the process of going over the complaint. No arrests have been made, though Vasquez tweeted that he plans to press charges.

"We have not confirmed it's the Pouncey brothers that are the subjects, but we are going to have detectives contacting the victims to investigate further," Hernandez told the paper.

Vasquez also tweeted that he felt "like I just got gay bashed."

Mike Pouncey, a center for the Miami Dolphins, was one of the primary players investigated in last season's bullying scandal involving former offensive lineman Jonathan Martin. Maurkice Pouncey, who played alongside his brother at the University of Florida, has been named to the Pro Bowl in three of his four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The twins previously came under scrutiny last summer for donning baseball caps printed with the words "Free Hernandez," a show of support for former Gators teammate and New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez in the latter's ongoing murder trial in Massachusetts.
