Bills cut QB Dixon, K Hopkins
Aug 25, 2014 - 3:27 PM Orchard Park, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The Buffalo Bills released 11 players on Monday to meet the league's 75-man limit.Quarterback Dennis Dixon and kicker Dustin Hopkins were among the cuts.
Hopkins was a long shot to make the team after the Bills re-signed Dan Carpenter to an extension this offseason.
A sixth-round pick of the Bills in 2013, Hopkins sustained a groin injury prior to the start of last season. That prompted Buffalo to sign Carpenter. Hopkins was eventually placed on injured reserve.
Dixon last appeared in a regular-season game during the 2010 season.
Buffalo also released safeties Derek Brim and Jajuan Harley, punter Jake Dombrowski, wide receivers Tori Gurley and Chris Summers, defensive tackle Damien Jacobs, center Macky MacPherson, guard J.J. 'Unga and running back Ronnie Wingo.
