Panthers' Tolbert placed on short-term IR
Sep 23, 2014 - 6:04 PM Charlotte, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Carolina Panthers placed fullback Mike Tolbert on the injured reserve/designated for return list on Tuesday.Tolbert suffered a hairline fracture in his knee in Sunday's loss to Pittsburgh. His next game won't be before Carolina visits Minnesota in Week 13.
The Coastal Carolina product was off to a slow start running the ball this season with just 10 yards on 14 carries but had eight catches for 59 yards.
The Panthers signed linebacker D.J. Smith to take Tolbert's roster spot.
