McCown to replace Glennon as Bucs starting QB
Nov 5, 2014 - 1:15 PM Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Josh McCown will apparently be the starting quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.Mike Glennon, who took over after McCown suffered a sprained thumb in a Week 3 game against Atlanta, said on his radio program Tuesday night that he had been informed of the change.
Bucs coach Lovie Smith will likely reveal his starter on Wednesday after practice.
"I met with (quarterbacks coach) Marcus Arroyo and Lovie (Tuesday) morning and they decided that it would be best for Josh to go ahead this week and get the start," said McCown on WDAE-AM. "Nothing's going to change with the way I work and the way I support the team."
Glennon has completed 117-of-203 passes for 1,417 yards with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions this season. He helped Tampa Bay to its lone win of the season in his first start in Week 4 against Pittsburgh.
The Bucs, however, have lost four straight since and are just 1-7.
McCown, who has recovered from his thumb injury, has connected on 43-of-68 throws for 420 yards with two touchdowns and four interceptions.
No one has shouted yet.
