Bills-Browns on for Sunday despite stadium damage

Nov 25, 2014 - 8:57 PM Orchard Park, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The Buffalo Bills will be able to host Sunday's scheduled game against the Cleveland Browns even with Ralph Wilson Stadium sustaining some damage from the massive snowstorm that struck the area last week.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Bills president Russ Brandon and vice president of operations Andy Major revealed that the stadium remains structurally sound and will require only some minor repairs.

"There's nothing that would put the safety of the public or our fans or our players and staff in any jeopardy," Brandon told reporters.

Major said the facility suffered some damage to ceiling tiles as well as to its Wall of Fame ring. Additionally, the wall to the team fieldhouse caved in some from the weight of the snow and pipes had burst in a few of the concession stands.

"We had less leaks than we really anticipated, less issues than we anticipated, but still a lot of damage," said Major. "And that's what we're focused on now is the repair work."

Despite those concerns, the Bills determined the facility to be fit to host a game following a thorough inspection by engineers.

"There's no structural damage to the facility from an engineering standpoint," said Brandon. "We've had structural engineers in here throughout the process, and this building, the training center, the fieldhouse and the stadium are fine structurally."

A prodigious lake-effect storm dumped more than five feet of snow in the Buffalo area and forced the Bills' Week 12 contest with the New York Jets to be relocated from Ralph Wilson Stadium to Detroit's Ford Field and switched from Sunday to Monday.

The change in plans didn't seem to affect the team at all, as Buffalo rolled to a 38-3 victory over the Jets.
