Cardinals sign Iupati, Peters, Weatherspoon
Mar 11, 2015 - 5:13 PM Tempe, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - The Arizona Cardinals have agreed to terms with free agents Mike Iupati, Corey Peters and Sean Weatherspoon.Mike Iupati, an offensive lineman, agreed to a five-year contract, while defensive tackle Corey Peters agreed to a three-year contract and linebacker Sean Weatherspoon agreed to a one-year deal.
Iupati played the past five seasons with the San Francisco 49ers and has been a Pro Bowl selection each of the last three years. He was selected by San Francisco in the first round (17th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Idaho and started all 75 games he appeared in with the 49ers.
Peters joins the Cardinals from the Atlanta Falcons where he played the previous five years after being drafted in the third round (83rd overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Kentucky.
Peters played in 71 games with 55 starts and collected 175 tackles and 11 sacks.
Weatherspoon comes to Arizona after spending the past five years in Atlanta where he appeared in 47 games with 41 starts and had 336 tackles and eight sacks.
A first-round pick of the Falcons in 2010, Weatherspoon spent last season on injured reserve after he suffered an Achilles injury in June.
