Saints sign LB Anthony Spencer
Apr 10, 2015 - 5:45 PM Metairie, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - The New Orleans Saints have signed linebacker Anthony Spencer to a one-year contract.Financial terms were not disclosed.
Spencer spent his first eight NFL seasons in Dallas after being selected with the 26th overall pick of the 2007 draft. He has 497 tackles, including 317 solo stops, with 33 sacks, 12 forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries in 104 games.
The 31-year-old Purdue product was a Pro Bowl pick in 2012 when he notched a career-best 11 sacks and 95 tackles. He then had microfracture knee surgery in July 2013 and played just one game in September before going on injured reserve.
Spencer appeared in 13 games last season for the Cowboys and posted 25 tackles with a fumble recovery that he returned for a touchdown. He added a sack and two tackles with a forced fumble in two playoff games.
