Dolphins' Jordan suspended for 2015

Apr 28, 2015 - 8:37 PM Davie, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Miami Dolphins defensive end Dion Jordan has been suspended for the entire 2015 season for another violation of the NFL's substance-abuse policy.

The Dolphins confirmed the suspension Tuesday, saying in a statement the team was "disappointed."

"A player's health and well-being are of the utmost importance to us," the team said. "We have made every effort to support Dion, both on and off the field and we will continue to do so to the extent allowable under NFL guidelines."

Jordan will not appeal the suspension, according to reports by NFL.com and ESPN. NFL.com reported the suspension was issued over a diluted sample, which is an indication Jordan may have been trying to mask what was in his system.

Jordan, 25, missed six games last year for violating the drug policy.

The NFL initially suspended Jordan last July for the first four games of 2014 after he tested positive for a banned performance-enhancing substance during the offseason. The penalty was later rescinded after two games when the league and the players union reached an agreement on a new drug policy, but another violation forced him to sit for another four games.

In 10 games last season, just one as a starter, Jordan notched 20 tackles and one sack.

The Dolphins traded up in the 2013 draft to select Jordan with the third overall pick. The Oregon product has just three sacks and 46 tackles in 26 games over two seasons.

He was the only player who didn't report for voluntary workouts last week.
