No. 1 pick Winston signs with Bucs
May 2, 2015 - 10:52 AM Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Less than 24 hours after being selected with the first overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, Jameis Winston signed his first professional contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.The team announced the deal at an introductory press conference with Winston and general manager Jason Licht.
Terms were not disclosed, but per the 2011 Collective Bargaining Agreement, the contract has to be four years. An NFL Network report indicated the contract is worth $25.35 million with a $16.7 million signing bonus.
Winston was selected first overall after two seasons of on-field success at Florida State. He threw for 7,964 yards with 65 touchdowns and 28 interceptions in 27 starts, the first 26 of which were wins. In 2013, he was awarded the Heisman trophy and FSU won the National Championship.
