Bills claim Simms, waive Tuel in QB swap

May 29, 2015 - 10:59 PM Orchard Park, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The Buffalo Bills claimed quarterback Matt Simms off waivers on Friday, a day after he was released from the New York Jets.

The Bills made room for Simms by releasing quarterback Jeff Tuel, who saw action in two games with the team in the 2013 season, making one start.

Simms, 26, went undrafted out of Tennessee but spent the last three years with the Jets, appearing in four games over the past two seasons with 18 completed passes in 39 attempts, including one touchdown.

He will be reunited with former Jets coach Rex Ryan, who was hired in January to coach the Bills.

He in the son of former Giants quarterback Phil Simms and the brother of Chris Simms, who spent eight seasons as an NFL quarterback.
