DETROIT (Ticker) - It has been a perfect preseason for the Detroit Lions and a near-perfect one for starting quarterback Jon Kitna.
Kitna continued his strong preseason play, completing 9-of-11 passes for 98 yards in Detroit's 26-6 victory over the Cleveland Browns on Saturday.
In the Lions' three preseason victories, Kitna is 18-of-21 passes for 280 yards and two touchdowns. Kitna was replaced by Dan Orlovsky after leading Detroit to scores on its first two possessions.
Dave Rayner, filling in for the injured Jason Hanson, kicked three field goals in the first half to help the Lions (3-0) to a 16-6 halftime lead. His longest, a 47-yarder, came with 20 seconds remaining in the first half.
Detroit's first-half touchdown came on a 35-yard run by rookie running back Kevin Smith, who finished with 45 yards on 10 carries.
The only scoring in the second half was a 26-yard field goal by Rayner and Orlovsky's 7-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Middleton.
Brady Quinn started a quarterback for Cleveland (0-3) in place of Derek Anderson, who suffered a slight concussion in the previous preseason game against the New York Giants.
The Browns failed to get a first down on their first three possessions, and their only first-half scoring came on field goals of 39 and 53 yards by Phil Dawson.
Quinn finished 14-of-24 for 106 yards in his 2 1/2 quarters.
Cleveland defensive tackle Shaun Rogers, obtained from Detroit in an offseason trade, played most of the first half and recorded three tackles and two assists.
