Dallas Cowboys

Team Report

Coach: Wade Phillips
Record: 14-3
Last result: 21-17 loss vs. NY Giants
Next game: Season over

Notes: In losing the NFC divisional playoff Sunday to the
Giants, Dallas missed an opportunity to complete a three-game
sweep over the Giants after beating them twice in the regular
season. Teams in that position are now 11-7 since 1990, with
the Cowboys now appearing on the list twice, having lost to
Arizona in 1998 (their last postseason home game before Sunday)
under similar circumstances. ... Dating to last season, Dallas
entered the contest with a three-game winning streak over the
Giants. ... Including Sunday's game, 10 of the last 19 meetings
between the Cowboys and Giants have been decided by four points
or less, with three needing overtime. ... The Cowboys' 20-play
drive in the second quarter, which ate up 10:28 off the game
clock and resulted in RB Marion Barber's 1-yard TD run, was the
longest of the season and needed the most plays. ... Dallas has
lost six straight playoff contests dating to 1996, equaling the
longest such streak in NFL history, which is shared by six other
clubs. Both Detroit and Kansas City, who both failed to
qualify for the postseason, also have active streaks going back
to 1991 and '93, respectively. ... Barber's 129 yards rushing
ranks him sixth on the Cowboys' all-time postseason rushing
performance list. Tony Dorsett holds the single-game record
with 160 yards against the Los Angeles Rams on December 28,
1980.
