Team Report
Record: 2-7
Next opponent: at San Francisco, November 16
His injured thigh kept RB Steven Jackson on the sidelines for
the third straight game Sunday at the New York Jets. RB Antonio
Pittman started in Jackson's place for the third straight time,
with RBs Kenneth Darby getting into the action. ... The Rams
clearly are trying to use the versatility of their rookie DE,
Chris Long. On their first series alone, Long was being moved
with the Jets' Brett Favre under center from the end of the
line to the middle, and then back into a middle linebacker
position in an effort to confuse the New York offensive line and
help Long get to the quarterback. At some point it might have
led to confusion, as seemingly every linebacker missed an
assignment in the first quarter, allowing tight end Dustin
Keller to be wide-open for a 54-yard pass that set up the field
goal that put the Rams in a 10-0 hole. They trailed 40-0 at the
half. The Rams allowed a team-record 42 points in the first
half to the Baltimore Colts on November 25, 1956 and let up 41
in the second half October 29 of the same season against the
Detroit Lions. ... Coast to Coast: The Rams traveled east to New
Jersey for their game against the Jets and hit the West Coast
next weekend for an NFC West matchup with the San Francisco
49ers, which could be their final outdoor game of the season.
St. Louis plays four of the next five at home, with the only
trip a December 7 visit to the Arizona Cardinals.
