Quick, Kings shut down Canucks

Mar 13, 2015 - 6:21 AM Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) - Jonathan Quick stopped all 19 shots he faced for his fifth shutout of the season and Los Angeles silenced Vancouver by a 4-0 count at Rogers Arena.

"Quick showed why he's the best goalie in the league," Canucks forward Henrik Sedin.

Tyler Toffoli, Justin Williams, Anze Kopitar and Marian Gaborik tallied for the Kings, who improved to 4-1-1 in March.

"Our power play scored a big goal early and we scored a goal early in the third, which basically sealed it for us," LA coach Darryl Sutter said.

Los Angeles vaulted back into the playoff picture, leaping past Winnipeg -- which lost at Florida earlier Thursday -- to gain the final wild-card berth in the Western Conference by one point.

Eddie Lack made only 16 saves in defeat for the Canucks, who had won two in a row.

Toffoli opened the scoring on a power play with 3:19 remaining in the first period when he tapped home a Williams feed from the left side.

Williams doubled the edge just shy of the four-minute mark of the second period, then LA pulled away with two more scores in the third.

Kopitar beat Lack only 25 seconds in, then Gaborik fought off a Canucks defender to flip home a Kopitar lead pass into an empty net with 4:24 to play.
