Remaining in the flock: Koivu re-ups with Ducks
May 9, 2012 - 9:51 PM Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - The Anaheim Ducks signed veteran center Saku Koivu to a one-year contract extension on Wednesday.The 37-year-old Finn completed his third season with the Ducks last month. In 74 games, he registered 11 goals and 27 assists.
Prior to joining the Ducks, Koivu spent the first 13 seasons of his career with the Montreal Canadiens, for whom he served as captain for 10 years, a mark matched only by Jean Beliveau in the franchise's illustrious history.
The 21st overall selection in the 1993 draft, Koivu has totaled 236 goals and 776 points in 1,012 NHL games.
