Avs bring in F John Mitchell
Jul 1, 2012 - 8:17 PM Denver, CO (Sports Network) - The Colorado Avalanche signed forward John Mitchell to a two-year contract on Sunday.The 27-year-old Mitchell scored five goals and tallied 11 assists in 63 games for the New York Rangers last season.
"We believe John is a good fit for our team," said Avalanche general manager Greg Sherman. "He is a center with size who skates well and is solid on faceoffs. We are pleased to have him join our organization."
A 2003 fifth-round pick of Toronto, Mitchell has totaled 25 goals and 71 points in 222 career games with the Maple Leafs and Rangers.
