Avs ink D Zanon
Jul 1, 2012 - 10:16 PM Denver, CO (Sports Network) - The Colorado Avalanche signed defenseman Greg Zanon to a two-year deal on Sunday.Zanon, 32, spent last season with the Minnesota Wild and the Boston Bruins, recording three goals and five assists between the two teams.
"Greg is a veteran defenseman who adds experience and depth to our blueline," Avalanche general manager and executive vice president Greg Sherman said. "We are pleased to have him under contract and look forward to him joining our organization."
The 5'11, 198-pound defenseman has 12 goals and 56 points in 449 games with Nashville, Minnesota and Boston. He is also a plus-seven.
Zanon was acquired by the Bruins on February 27, 2012 for defenseman Steven Kampfer.
Zanon was second in the NHL in blocked shots in 2010-11, when he redirected 212. Last season Zanon blocked 136 in 56 games.
