Lightning send Thompson to Anaheim for draft picks

Jun 30, 2014 - 4:24 AM Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Lightning continued to purge themselves of contracts late Sunday night by sending forward Nate Thompson to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for fourth and seventh-round selections in next year's draft.

Hours earlier, the Lightning acquired forward Sam Gagner from the Edmonton Oilers, then sent the former first-round pick and forward B.J. Crombeen to the Arizona Coyotes for a sixth-round selection in the 2015 draft.

Thompson, 29, has played in 391 career NHL games with the Lightning, New York Islanders and Boston Bruins. He has totaled 39 goals and 85 points with 199 penalty minutes, including a nine-goal, 16-point effort last season.
