Stastny leaves Colorado, inks 4-year deal with Blues
Jul 1, 2014 - 5:03 PM St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - The St. Louis Blues snagged one of the most sought-after free agents less than an hour into the frenzy, signing Paul Stastny to a four-year deal worth $28 million.Stastny completed his eighth NHL season by picking up 25 goals and 35 assists over 71 regular-season games, adding 10 points (5G, 5A) in Colorado's seven- game first-round loss to the Minnesota Wild.
Son of Hall-of-Famer Peter Stastny, the Avalanche's second-round pick in the 2005 draft spent his entire career in Denver, totaling 160 goals and 298 assists over 538 games.
The 28-year-old center now joins fellow Sochi Olympics American teammates David Backes, T.J. Oshie and Kevin Shattenkirk, and looks to bolster a Blues offense which ranked fifth in the Western Conference last year with 248 goals.
