Sharks bring back Demers

Jul 16, 2014 - 9:11 PM San Jose, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Jose Sharks re-signed restricted free-agent defenseman Jason Demers to a two-year contract on Wednesday.

"Jason has been a solid, offensive defenseman and is coming off a good season," said Sharks general manager Doug Wilson. "His skill set and his age mesh well within our overall group and we're happy to have him signed for two more years."

Demers, 26, finished second among San Jose blueliners with 34 points and accumulated a plus-14 rating in 75 games. Demers set career highs in goals (five), assists (29) and points.

Over 280 games in parts of five NHL seasons, the native of suburban Montreal has compiled 16 goals and 79 assists.
