Ducks extend Maroon, sign top pick Ritchie
Aug 2, 2014 - 6:28 PM Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Anaheim Ducks have signed left wing Patrick Maroon to a three-year contract extension and also came to terms with top draft pick Nick Ritchie on an entry-level deal.Maroon still had a year remaining on his existing contract and is now signed through the 2017-18 season. Financial terms were not disclosed.
"I've been a part of the Ducks organization for a while now," said Maroon. "They gave me a great opportunity to live my dream. I'm just glad to be a part of the Anaheim Ducks for the next four years."
The 26-year-old St. Louis native set career highs with 11 goals, 18 assists and 29 points in 62 games last season. He also finished with a plus-11 rating and a team-leading 101 penalty minutes.
Maroon, acquired from Philadelphia in November 2010, has appeared in 77 career NHL games with the Ducks and has 13 goals with 19 assists for 32 points.
Ritchie was selected by the Ducks with the 10th overall pick of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. The 18-year-old left wing collected 73 goals and 75 assists for 148 points in 165 games during his junior career with Peterborough of the Ontario Hockey League.
