Seguin, Andersen, Stamkos earn NHL weekly honors

Oct 20, 2014 - 4:34 PM New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin, Anaheim Ducks goaltender Frederik Andersen and Tampa Bay Lightning captain Steven Stamkos have been selected as the NHL's top players for the second week of the 2014-15 campaign.

Seguin gained First Star honors by leading the league with eight points (4G, 4A) in just three games as Dallas finished last week with two wins and an overtime loss. His finest performance came in Saturday's 6-5 OT defeat to the Flyers, when he posted a career-best four assists.

Andersen received the Second Star after posting a 4-0-0 record, 1.22 goals- against average and .955 save percentage for Anaheim. The native of Denmark recorded his first NHL shutout with a 28-save effort in a 3-0 win over the Blues on Sunday night. With 25 wins in his first 30 decisions, Andersen joined Ross Brooks (Boston, 1972-74) as the only goaltenders in league history to attain the mark.

Stamkos earned the Third Star by tying for second in the NHL with six points, including a league-high five goals, in just three appearances for the Bolts. He picked up his eighth career hat trick thanks to a personal-best 12 shots on goal in a 7-1 rout of the Canadiens last Monday, then added a pair of scores in a 4-2 win at Vancouver on Saturday.
